Christopher Chaos Universe Gets Its Own Frankenstein Retelling
Dark Horse Comics and Tiny Onion announced The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein, a 56-page one-shot written by Tate Brombal, art by Soo Lee, colors by Patricio Delpeche, and letters by Aditya Bidikar.
Set within the world of The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos, the one-shot traces the harrowing origin of Adam Frankenstein, the beloved mentor figure from the ongoing series, adapting Mary Shelley's classic novel through the lens of the Chaos Universe. The issue also includes an eight-page flip-book short story titled "Monsters in Love" by Mark Bouchard, Naomi Franq, Héctor Barros, and Aditya Bidikar, with a special cover by Kendra Wells.
"Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is one of my favorite novels, so to have this opportunity to adapt her groundbreaking story with our own Christopher Chaos twist is monumental for me," said Brombal. "This is one of the most personal comics I've ever written and to do it alongside Soo, Patricio, Aditya, and the entire Tiny Onion crew just feels incredible. It's tragic, surprising, and full of heart. This Frankenstein is familiar but unlike any adaptation you've seen before."
The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein is on sale August 26th with covers by David Talaski, Filipe Andrade, and Fernando Blanco. For readers who want more, the one-shot will also be collected alongside The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos #7 and #8 in a 184-page paperback edition arriving in comic shops and bookstores December 15, 2026.
