FX to Develop ‘That Texas Blood’ into TV Series

Image Comics announced that That Texas Blood, the neo-noir Western crime series by writer Chris Condon (Of the Earth, News from the Fallout) and artist Jacob Phillips (Everything Dead & Dying, Newburn), is in development at FX as a drama series. Jim Mickle, the director and showrunner behind Netflix's Sweet Tooth, will write, executive produce, and direct. E.L. Katz, who served as co-executive producer and producing director on Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor, will co-write and executive produce alongside him. The show will be produced through 20th Television.

The broader producing team includes Michael Waldron and Adam Fasullo via Anomaly Pictures, as well as Adam Fishbach, Jeremy Platt, and Linda Moran. Condon is executive producing, and Phillips is attached as co-executive producer.

The series follows Sheriff Joe Bob Coates, a lawman in rural West Texas whose 70th birthday sets off a dark chain of events that begins with something as ordinary as a missing casserole dish and escalates from there. The comic ran for three volumes, with a sister series, The Enfield Gang Massacre, set 150 years earlier in the same world.
