More Details Emerge on SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS #1
Teased last month, Marvel is back with more details on the return of Superior Spider-Man!
SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS #1 will be written by Dan Slott and drawn by Ryan Stegman, the creative team that originally brought the character to life 10 years ago. The over-sized one-shot will also feature art by Mark Bagley, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Humberto Ramos.
The Superior Spider-Man was a controversial character when he first debuted in 2013. He was a version of Doctor Octopus who had swapped minds with Peter Parker and taken over his body. The Superior Spider-Man was a ruthless and efficient crimefighter, but he also lacked Peter Parker's compassion and humility. Over time, the Superior Spider-Man began to learn the value of Peter Parker's qualities. He eventually gave up the Spider-Man mantle and returned Peter Parker's body to him.
Slott shared more details on how they’re going to position the story, “The challenge Marvel gave me was: for the 10th anniversary, how can we revisit Superior, without repeating ourselves, and while telling a story that impacts Spider-Man's world today? SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS is going to take an untold Superior tale, and drag it kicking, screaming, and violently exploding into the present. It's going to give you everything you liked about Superior but in new surprising ways. No time travel. No clones. And no way we're telling you how. Read the book!”
The 10th anniversary one-shot is scheduled to be released on October 11, 2023.
