Review: Action Comics #1065

The "House of Brainiac" event continues as Superman & Lobo's battle against the Czarnians intensifies w/ a "surprising" twist at the end. Meanwhile, Supergirl & Conner Kent form an alliance w/ Parasite & Livewire to escape their captivity. Things appear to be going well until Brainiac captures them & shows Supergirl his master plan.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this event, & this issue is another strong chapter. It's been great to see Williamson using these Action Comics entries to elevate the Super Family & other characters, while Superman gets the focus in his solo title. His script here juggles multiple plot threads equitably, while maintaining a fast pace, w/ well-constructed action scenes that showcase Sandoval & Mendoça's dynamic artwork.

The art dup brings the action to life w/ stunning visuals, including jaw-dropping splash pages. Alejandro Sánchez's colors add depth, utilizing distinct palettes to create a unique feel for each of the various environments we visit.

Williamson's backup story offers a rare glimpse into Brainiac's personal relationships. Mirko Colak & Mike Spicer's art, while a tad too heavy & dark for me, suits the tone of the backup story.
