Spawn Emerges from the Dark Ages in New Miniseries
Image Comics announced Spawn: The Dark Ages will return with a new six-issue miniseries from creator Liam Sharp, who will serve as writer, inker, and colorist. Sharp will also provide two of the debut issue’s four covers, in addition to a blank sketch cover and a 1:50 incentive by Ryan Brown. Spawn: The Dark Ages #1 hits shelves October 8th with an FOC of September 15th.
In a land besieged by Saxon raids, Pictish invasions, and Hibernian attacks, King Aurelianus Ambrosius must forge a perilous alliance with Erlking Ulegrave, master of the Wild Hunt, to save his kingdom. But can this Christian king really make a pact with an ancient, devilish power, or will their partnership seal his eternal fate?
“Returning to Spawn: The Dark Ages after so long has been a wild and wonderful ride!” said Sharp. “I wanted to create something truly unique, that didn’t require any former knowledge of Spawn, or the dark ages in general. I also wanted to take it right back to the very start of that period, setting the story in post-Roman Britain in the 5th Century.”
