‘That Texas Blood’ Returns with New Arc

Image Comics revealed That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch, a new six-issue arc of the neo-noir Western from writer Chris Condon and artist Jacob Phillips, with letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou and designer Michael Tivey joining the team.

Set in 2003, the arc calls Sheriff Joe Bob Coates and Deputy Wilson Hart out to the Allison Ranch, the largest and richest spread in the country, where a family's grievances have curdled into open war. The first issue comes packed with bonus material, including behind-the-scenes looks, new interviews, essays, and cartoons. The arc carries variant covers from Martin Simmonds, Luana Vecchio, Mark Chiarello, and others.

"Well... we're back! Joe Bob returns, this time for a story set in 2003 that we like to call 'Hell Comes to Allison Ranch.' It's our most action-packed story arc yet with strong thematic links to two of our previous, fan-favorite outings—That Texas Blood volume one and The Enfield Gang Massacre," said Condon. "While this new arc has some connections to our past stories, it's also a great place for readers unfamiliar with Ambrose County or its inhabitants to jump on, and Jacob and I are excited to bring some new collaborators along with us, too. We are so excited to be adding letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou and designer Michael Tivey to the That Texas Blood ranks. With the team we have assembled on this book, and the story we have to tell, I think this may just be the best That Texas Blood story yet."

"Joe Bob's back and it feels so good! Coming back to That Texas Blood feels like coming home to us and we've missed it after so long away," added Phillips. "We return with a brand new story arc, 'Hell Comes To Allison Ranch.' A heist gone wrong on the biggest ranch in the US on the night of the invasion of Iraq. This story is the perfect jumping on point for new readers and a warm welcome back for the regulars. So slip on your favourite pair of jeans, grab a can of Doyers and settle in. It's gonna be one hell of a ride."

Image will also release a Facsimile edition of the series' debut issue, printed on deluxe newsprint, alongside the launch.

That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch #1 is on sale Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
