Three More ‘What If...? 50th Anniversary’ One-Shots Revealed
Marvel announced three additional one-shots in its What If...? 50th anniversary celebration, all arriving in July. The series of standalone issues puts alternate-universe spins on some of Marvel's most celebrated stories, with all covers by Lucas Werneck. The June launch issues, What If...? Uncanny X-Men #1 by Gerry Duggan and Jan Bazaldua and What If...? Thor #1 by Torunn Grønbekk and Sergio Dávila, were previously announced. The three newly revealed July issues are:
What If...? Secret Wars #1 (on sale 7/1) by Alex Paknadel and CAFU asks what would have happened if the original Ultimate Universe survived the events of Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars, following Peter Parker as he navigates the fallout.
What If...? Jessica Jones #1 (on sale 7/15) by Justina Ireland and David Messina reimagines Jessica Jones as the one bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, following a retired and reluctant Spider-Girl dragged back into action when a familiar threat resurfaces.
What If...? Spider-Man #1 (on sale 7/29) sees J.M. DeMatteis, writer of the original "Kraven's Last Hunt," return alongside artist Yildiray Çinar to explore what might have happened if Kraven had survived his final confrontation with Spider-Man.
The full eight-issue lineup also includes What If...? Captain America #1 by Marc Guggenheim and Ron Lim (8/5), What If...? Runaways #1 by Rainbow Rowell and Zulema Lavina (8/19), and What If...? X-Men #1 by Ashley Allen and Sumit Kumar (8/26).
