Brubaker and Phillips Reunite for Their Most Personal and Twisted Story Yet
Image Comics announced Unfinished Tales, a new original graphic novel from the award-winning duo Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. Brubaker and Phillips' previous series Criminal is set to arrive on Prime Video later in 2026.
The story follows Finnegan Blake, one of the most celebrated authors in the world whose books have been adapted into a hit TV series, but who has been paralyzed by writer's block for a decade and is hopelessly behind on delivering the final book in his beloved fantasy series. When an old friend arrives with a solution, the two enter into a secret arrangement that quickly turns dark, pitting their egos and ambitions against each other in ways neither anticipated.
"This is one of my favorite books we've ever done. I've always been fascinated by why people write, or in this case, why they don't, and so I took the idea of writers block and ran into the darkness with it," said Brubaker. "Unfinished Tales is a deep dive into the world of writers and publishing, the pressure to succeed, and what that may cost you. It's also a very fucked up thriller about egos and ambition, because it's about writers."
Unfinished Tales hardcover (ISBN: 9781534330122) is on sale November 11th at comic shops and December 8th at bookstores.
