Kelly Thompson’s Historic Run Concludes with Captain Marvel #50 (PREVIEW)

Captain Marvel #50 marks the end of Kelly Thompson's historic run on the character. Thompson has been writing Captain Marvel since 2019(!!), and her run has been one of the most critically acclaimed and popular runs on the character in recent years.

Reflecting on her milestone issue, Thompson reflected on her initial conversations with Marvel asking her to take on the project, “When Marvel asked me to write Carol's new Captain Marvel series back in 2018, in the lead up to her first film, I was delighted and also terrified. But I'm glad I didn't let the terror win, because it has truly been a fantastic experience.”

Thompson's run on Captain Marvel has been praised for its strong writing, its diverse cast of characters, and its positive portrayal of female superheroes. It has also been a commercial success, with Captain Marvel consistently ranking among the top-selling Marvel comics each month.

Captain Marvel #50 is set to be a must-read for any fan of Captain Marvel and a fitting end to a historic run that has helped to redefine the character for a new generation of readers.
