Marvel Announces ‘Queen in Black: Venom Unchained’
Marvel announced Queen in Black: Venom Unchained, a three-issue tie-in to this summer's Queen in Black crossover event, written by Charles Soule with art by Juanan Ramírez and a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu. On sale July 15, the series follows Eddie Brock as he attempts to escape prison and make his way to the battle against Hela and Knull. Eddie's situation ties directly into recent events in Venom #256, in which Carnage chose the new symbiote called Torment as a host over Eddie. Now symbiote-less and behind bars, Eddie has to find a way out before the conflict engulfs the world. Soule previously wrote Eddie's time bonded to Carnage in Eddie Brock: Carnage, and Ramírez comes off art duties on the Knull limited series. Variant covers yet to be revealed will be provided by Peach Momoko, Skan, and Ema Lupacchino.
"When I agreed to write a new chapter in Eddie Brock's ongoing story a few years back via Eddie Brock: Carnage, I had no idea it would end up continuing through all these dark little paths," said Soule. "From Carnage to Death Spiral and now to VENOM: UNCHAINED, I've found there's a lot to explore with Mr. Brock and his relationships with various symbiotes. Very glad to spend this time with Eddie - he's a fascinating guy."
