Marvel Reveals ‘Queen in Black’ Finale Details and Teases Venomworld
Marvel revealed covers and details for the final wave of Queen in Black event issues, arriving across September. The event series, written by Al Ewing and drawn by Iban Coello, begins July 22 and spins directly out of Ewing and Carlos Gómez's run on Venom. The September issues bring the war between Hela and Knull to its conclusion and deliver Venomworld, a development that's been building in Ewing's run since its earliest chapters.
Heading into the finale, Hela has seized Knull's throne and now commands his symbiote armies as the Queen in Black, while Knull has conquered the Lightforce Dimension and claimed a terrifying new power as the God of Light. Two of Marvel's most dangerous villains are at war with each other, and Earth is the prize either one would take.
"I'm writing a couple of specials," Ewing said. "In Queen in Black: Hela, Karnilla of the Norns tells the tale of how Hela started all this, and which forgotten Thor tried to prevent it. Queen in Black: Thor, meanwhile, is a tale of Beta Ray Bill and the Mortal Thor, Sigurd Jarlson — how they react to Hela, and how Hela reacts to them. And finally, in Venom, we get to see the war against Hela from the point of view of the characters in that book — Dylan, Mary Jane, and obviously the Venom symbiote himself. It'll be a fun time!"
