Marvel's Voices Shines a Spotlight on Disability Pride

Marvel announced a Disability Pride Month celebration this July, featuring a four-part backup story running across four issues alongside a series of special variant covers. Written by Marieke Nijkamp and drawn by Andrea Di Vito, the story follows Daredevil, Misty Knight, Echo, Hawkeye, Silhouette, and Finesse as they band together to rescue Colleen Wing from a deadly threat. The story is told in chapters spread across four July issues, each also featuring a Disability Pride variant cover by a different artist:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #32 (on sale 7/1) with a Disability Pride Promo Cover by Jamie McKelvie and a Disability Pride variant by Leinil Francis Yu

  • Uncanny X-Men #31 (on sale 7/8) with a Disability Pride variant by David Mack

  • Fantastic Four #14 (on sale 7/15) with a Disability Pride variant by Aaron Kuder

  • Wolverine #24 (on sale 7/22) with a Disability Pride variant by Stephen Segovia

The celebration is part of Marvel's ongoing Voices program, which spotlights characters and stories reflecting a broad range of identities and backgrounds across the Marvel Universe.

"It may sound a bit cheesy to say this is a dream project, but for these stories, I got to bring together a roster of spectacular heroes and write an epic adventure that's all about strength in community. It really is a dream come true." said Nijkamp.

"Super heroes are meant to inspire us to be better, but sometimes we forget that the greatest inspirations come from real life," said Di Vito. "People with disabilities prove to each and every one of us that the true measure of our worth is our spirit and our will, not the limitations of our bodies."
