At their SDCC Day 1 panel Designing the X-Men: A This Week in Marvel Special Event held on Thursday, Marvel teased two new X-Men titles: X-MEN BLUE: ORIGINS #1 and THE NEW X-MEN!

X-MEN BLUE: ORIGINS #1

X-MEN BLUE: ORIGINS #1 will dive deeper into the mysteries surrounding Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler’s birth and his relationship with Mystique. The one-shot will be written by Si Spurrier and have art by Wilton Santos.

From Marvel:

This is the one you can’t miss, True Believer! You think you know how the beloved blue devil came into this troubled world? You think you know the tale of his mendacious mamma Mystique? You don't! Mother and son reunite in a mold-shattering tale that exposes secrets held for decades and redefines both characters forever!

Spurrier, who has written recent Nightcrawler stories in Legion of X and will also write Kurt’s adventures in the upcoming UNCANNY SPIDER-MAN, shared more on this story, "It’s not often you get the chance to shine new light into the origins of a truly beloved character. To do so for two at once is an unprecedented privilege. With this book, we’re breaking new ground in more ways than one. We’re walking this path with the deepest love for Nightcrawler and Mystique, and the deepest respect for the formative stories that surround them."

"And yet… by shifting perspective… by wondering which parts of the standard history can be trusted and which are unreliable…  by climbing into the minds and memories of mother and son alike… we’re enriching their shared tale in a way that will cast fertile shadows across everything they do from now onwards. This is one of those books that will be discussed for years to come," he further revealed.

X-MEN BLUE: ORIGINS #1 will be available November 29th, wherever comics are sold.

THE NEW X-MEN

Marvel didn’t share much beyond a teaser for this new series, though the current logo looks particularly similar to the logo for THE ASTONISHING X-MEN used during Age of Apocalypse. The publisher’s teaser indicated that we’d find out more in November of this year and that the new series wouldn’t debut until 2024. The only bit of information we received about the potential story was the very short and ominous line: “Krakoa may fall, but the X-Men never will.”
