Oni Press and Archie Comics Announce Three New Series
Oni Press and Archie Comic Publications announced a new line of Archie Comics series launching this fall, timed to Archie's 85th anniversary. The three titles are Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Archie in Hell. All three will debut later this Fall with logos and trade dresses by Rian Hughes.
Archie #1 will be written by Ben H. Winters (Cruel Universe, Benjamin, the Last Policeman trilogy, Tracker) and illustrated by Fábio Moon (Daytripper, Casanova), with interior art by Nick Cagnetti (Spirit in the Shadows, Pink Lemonade) and covers by Stuart Immonen (All-New X-Men, New Avengers). The series puts 17-year-old Archie Andrews at the center of an adventure through Riverdale's past, present, and future, beginning with a local film festival that throws everything into chaos. At the center of it all is a mystery that only Jughead can unravel.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 comes from writer Corinna Bechko (Green Lantern: Earth One, EC's Blood Type) and artist Kano (Daredevil, Gotham Central). Still coming to terms with the revelation of her magical birthright, 16-year-old Sabrina Spellman is figuring out how to balance a life of hexes and homework when her familiar Salem drops a mythical trickster on her doorstep, threatening to expose her two worlds to each other at the worst possible moment.
Writer Patrick Horvath (Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees) and artist Tyler Crook (Harrow County, Out of Alcatraz) will helm Archie in Hell #1. Set in an alternate Riverdale, a cursed Archie finds himself separated from everyone he knows, with only one path to salvation: damnation. The series follows in the tradition of Afterlife With Archie and spans from 1690 to the present day.
"One year ago, we started work on what has quickly become one of the most significant and anticipated collaborations in Oni's 30-year history: our new and ambitious line of titles celebrating the greatness of Archie Comics," said Oni Press President and Publisher Hunter Gorinson. "From Archie to Sabrina and Archie in Hell, our new comics are brimming with pop and power — from content to design, each issue is intended to be a highly concentrated dose of pure entertainment and unadulterated bliss, propelled by the never-ending energy of Archie's 85-year legacy."
"What an extraordinary honor it is to write these stories," said Winters. "And more importantly, what a total blast. Archie Andrews is an honest-to-goodness American icon, right up there with Mickey Mouse and Bart Simpson... and just like them, he's enterprising, curious, and kind, forever bouncing into some new adventure along with his loyal pals. I'm finding these characters delightful to write, for the same reason people have enjoyed reading Archie lo these many years — Riverdale's just a fun place to hang out."
Beyond the three new series, Oni Press will also publish a new line of compact comic collections and deluxe graphic novels this fall. And further down the road, a live-action Archie feature film written by Tom King and produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller is in development at Universal Pictures.
Archie #1 is on sale September 2026, Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 is on sale October 2026, and Archie in Hell #1 is on sale November 2026. All three are $4.99 each with a full lineup of covers to be revealed.
