Thanos Hires Bullseye to Kill a Cosmic-Level Target
Marvel announced Marvel Gold '76 #1, a one-shot written by Stephanie Phillips (Daredevil) and illustrated by Madibek Musabekov (Star Wars: Shadow of Maul), bringing together four characters who all debuted in 1976 for their 50th anniversary. Check out the covers and interior pages below!
Marvel Gold '76 #1 is on sale September 9 with a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu and variant covers by Alex Maleev, Hicham Habchi, John Romita Jr., and Kendrick "Kunkka" Lim.
Thanos has hired Bullseye to take out a target whose death would have consequences on a universal scale. As Bullseye tracks his mark through New York City, Jack of Hearts, Nova, and Star-Lord move to intercept him — three heroes with more than enough raw power to stop an ordinary assassin. Bullseye is not an ordinary assassin. The four characters have seldom shared a story together, with the exception of Nova and Star-Lord's long history as Guardians of the Galaxy, which makes the collision here as unexpected as it is.
All four characters first appeared in print within a year of each other: Bullseye in Daredevil #131 by Marv Wolfman and Bob Brown; Nova (Richard Rider) in Nova #1 by Wolfman and John Buscema; Jack of Hearts (Jack Hart) in The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #22 by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen; and Star-Lord (Peter Jason Quill) in Marvel Preview #4 by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.

"It was such an exciting opportunity to write a story that celebrates these characters and their legacies, which have helped shape not just comics, but pop culture as a whole," said Phillips. "I can't wait for readers to dig into this action-packed story and see the incredible artwork from Madibek Musabekov!"
"You might find this one of the strangest assemblies in comics but pitting Bullseye against three characters who could punt him into the sun is one of the coolest hooks ever," said editor Mark Paniccia. "MARVEL GOLD is about assembling the best talent to celebrate these characters with big swings, great stories, and a fresh spotlight that reminds readers why they've endured for decades."
