The Road to DNX Starts in ‘X-Men’ this August

Marvel revealed details on X-Men #35 and #36, two August issues from writer Jed MacKay that serve as direct lead-ins to DNX, the five-issue event series launching in September.

Cyclops and the Chairman have both seen what happens if the X-Virus is released into a major city, and they came back from that future with opposite intentions. The X-Men are working to stop it, pulling in the Fantastic Four along the way, while 3K is working to make it happen. The younger Hank McCoy at the center of the X-Men's roster finds himself staring down a version of his own future in the Chairman, while Magneto's deteriorating health turns out to be connected to the virus itself, making him 3K's next target.

In X-Men #35, the younger Hank McCoy struggles to reconcile the X-Man he is with the amoral Chairman of 3K that he could become, as the villain's shadow looms larger over everything the X-Men are fighting to protect. In X-Men #36, the Chairman identifies Magneto as the missing piece needed to complete a viable version of the X-Virus, setting 3K on a collision course with the X-Men's home base in Alaska.

"X-MEN #35-36 paves the road to DNX, with 3K's Chairman taking the last of his first steps towards a new world," said MacKay. "It's been exciting to write this version of Hank McCoy, fully freed from morality and ethics, and putting him on a collision course with the X-Men for DNX will change both the X-Men and 3K moving forward!"

X-Men #35 is on sale August 12 with art and cover by Tony S. Daniel. X-Men #36, with art and cover by Netho Diaz and a variant by Rod Reis, follows August 26.
